Recruiting Model Comparison

Outsourced Recruiting Services: A More Attractive Way to Recruit

While the success of a law firm is truly determined by the quality of its partners, associates, and support staff, a firm doesn’t become successful by simply hiring people with the right set of skills. Rather, the success of a practice is largely a result of hiring skilled, motivated people who also blend with its environment and culture. To help you identify the right candidates, we offer a range of recruiting options that extend from contingent and retained searches to an hourly billing rate and our unique outsourced recruiting model. This lets you select the best option for your firm’s budget and hiring needs.

Our Recruiting Models: Which Option Is Right For You? Use these descriptions to compare more traditional search options with our Outsourced Recruiting Model. In addition to offering these three billing models, we also offer the option of conducting searches according to an hourly billing rate.

Contingent Search Model

If you need to immediately fill a spot with someone who has the right set of “hard” skills (but not necessarily the best all-around candidate), then this is the best option for you.  However, this also might be your most costly and time-consuming model, since the search essentially becomes a “numbers” game. Because with it, the more resumes you review, the more likely you’ll be successful finding a candidate.

Benefits

  • Lets you pursue as many avenues as possible
  • Enables you to use multiple staffing professionals
  • Emphasizes knowledge and hard, technical skills

Drawbacks

  • Downplays candidate’s “soft” skills and cultural “fit”
  • Requires you to manage multiple vendor relationships
  • Requires you to manage independent resume submittals

With this model, the fee is based on a percentage of the placed candidate’s first year salary and is charged at the time of placement. And, if one of our candidates is not placed, then no fees are charged. Please contact us for details.

Retained Search Model
If you have an immediate or near-term hiring need and do not foresee other staffing needs in the coming months, this model may be the best choice for your firm. It is also a good option if the candidate’s overall fit (hard skills, soft skills, and cultural fit) is critical to the success of the placement. To streamline the hiring process for you, we screen the candidates we find as well as any and all candidates that have come to you independently.

Benefits

  • More productively and profitably utilizes your time
  • Enables you to manage a single vendor relationship
  • Provides you with a more expansive candidate pool
  • Enables you to find candidates with the best overall fit

Drawbacks

  • Might not be the most cost-effective option for you
  • Reactive because the hiring efforts drive the business
  • Non-refundable two-thirds of fee for cancelled searches

With this model, the first 1/3 of the fee is paid at the start of the search; the second 1/3 is paid after 30 days; and the final portion is paid at the close of the search after the placed-candidate’s compensation has been finalized (the full fee is only paid if a candidate is hired).  Slightly less than the Contingent Search Model, the final overall fee is based on successful candidate’s first year salary. Please contact us for details.

Outsourced Recruiting Model
The best option if you anticipate hiring more than one person in the near future, KG Legal works as an extension of your firm and manages the entire recruiting process, enabling your attorneys and managers to more profitably and productively use their time. Driven by your firm’s business and diversity goals, we develop a customized hiring program and offer additional human resources services that enable staffing to play a significant part in your firm’s ability to fulfill its business plan and reach new markets. In addition, with this proactive recruiting model, KG Legal is able to be on the constant lookout for candidates that are the best overall fit for your firm.

Benefits

  • The most cost-effective model for multiple searches
  • Enables hiring process to become proactive and strategic
  • Helps optimize staff performance for client firms
  • Not based solely on placed candidates’ first year salaries
  • Expansive candidate pool like Retained Search Model
  • Significantly reduces your applicant record maintenance time

Drawbacks

  • Best for hiring multiple candidates over a set time span

With this model, the overall fee is determined up-front and is based on the anticipated number and level of hires over a designated period of time and is broken into monthly payments, which begin at the start of the search process. Please contact us for details.

Hourly Recruiting Model
If you are in need of a professional to manage the recruiting process for you, but you don’t need to conduct a candidate search, then this is a great, cost-effective option for you. With this model, the candidate pool only includes individuals who apply directly to your firm, reply to a job posting, or come to your firm through an employee referral program or other networking referral sources.

Benefits:

  • Significantly reduces you time requirements

Drawbacks

  • Significantly reduces overall candidate pool

With this model, we charge an hourly rate and can be as involved as you require. Please contact us for details.
